THE LODGE was formed and Consecrated on Saturday, 20th June, 1970, at the Huntingdon County Junior School, by the then Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Bertram Guillaume, assisted by Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge. These premises were made available by kind permission of the Headmaster, W.Bro Jim Jackson.
IN THE forty-six years of its life, Samuel Pepys Lodge has developed into a family of members who work well together, not only in the Lodge, but as ambassadors-at-large for the Institution; their contributions to charity, both local and nationally, are willingly given. Its Consecration is celebrated each year at a Church Service, usually held on the nearest Sunday to 20th June, to which Members and their families are welcomed.
ORIGINALLY, there were twenty-two Founders and First Officers and membership has risen to forty-four, (in 2015), although there have been fluctuations over the years.
THE SILVER JUBILEE OF THE LODGE CONSECRATION
The Church Service and other celebrations were arranged by a small group of Founder Members, together with the Master of that year, Chaired by W.Bro Dixon. Bro Basil was quite seriously ill during this time, but continued to maintain, from his home, a driving interest in all the proceedings. The Service was, in fact, the last ceremony which he was able to attend. He died on 4th October, 1995.
A SERVICE of Thanksgiving was held at Godmanchester Parish Church on Sunday, 25th June, 1995, by kind permission of the Vicar The Rev. Neil Follett, BA, BSc. Lessons were read by WBro Basil Dixon and by V.W.Bro ONN Hart, Deputy Provincial Grand Master; an Address was delivered by W.Bro The Rev. Canon Neil Munt, Lodge Chaplain.
The Lodge Warrant granted by Grand Lodge is displayed in the Lodge Room during meetings at The Priory, or wherever the Lodge may meet by special dispensation from the Provincial Grand Master. W.Bro BR Dixon, PJGD, was installed as first Master,
